Detailed description of Riverhill Country Club

Riverhill Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Kerrville, Texas, about an hour west of San Antonio.

The course first opened for play in the 1960s and was just nine holes. The Joe Finger and Byron Nelson designed coiurse that is the Riverhill Country Club course opened in 1975 as a par 72, playing more than 6,800 yards from the tips. The course was designed by Joe Finger and Byron Nelson.

Private cottages available for lodging rental year round. Guests staying in the Riverhill Cottages are allowed membership privileges in dining, pool, tennis, and golf.

The golf course itself is a combination of doglegs, shots over hazards and holes that vary greatly in length. It may have one of the more interesting collections of par 3s in the country, with none of them looking alike.

The second, for example, is a 199-yard hole that plays over a gorge. The green is probably 100 feet wide. The 11th is 177 yards, nearly all carry over a portion of a lake. And the 16th is just 159 yards with a great look.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6855 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5301 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 551 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 159 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 4, a 458 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 16, the 159 yard par-3.

Course in excellent shapre from tee box through greens. The course is challenging (but fair) and interesting. Even though it is surrounded by (very nice) homes, it is a pretty track. Mid afternoon weekday we played at our own pace and hardly waited to play a shot. I played as a guest but know the course is fairly expensive. Definitely one of the two finest courses in the area.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again
